    Plaquenil per alopecia

I have Sjgrens syndrome and fibromyalgia, and take Lyrica, too. I'll take Advil for the discomfort and at least keep my hair. In the past 3 months have noticed extreme hair thinning & breakage. Jeff Donovan MD Ph D FRCPC FAADUS & Canadian board-certified Dermatologist Toronto, Canada Dear dcctor: There are many doctors who claim that many drugs don’t cause hair loss, but yet there are many patients who take medications that end up with hair loss, and when they go off of the medication, hair loss subsides. Maybe I will just tell the doctor to wean me off of them, as they really aren't a cure for this. Have you tried any hair products like Rogaine, if so did it work? be sure to check with your physician and ideally your dermatologist as well to review all possible causes of your hair loss.

Apr 10, 2019 Plaquenil is sometimes given only once per week. Choose the same day each week to take this medicine if you are on a weekly dosing schedule. Take Plaquenil with a meal or a glass of milk. To prevent malaria Start taking Plaquenil 2 weeks before entering an area where malaria is common. Continue taking the medicine regularly during your stay and for at least 8 weeks after you leave the area. I had quite a bit of hair loss for about 8 months on Plaquenil, 400 mg per day. I did have extremely thick hair almost to my waist. I ended up getting it cut several months ago to just under my shoulders. About the time I got it cut, the hair loss slowed down considerably. Maybe the weight was contributing to how much was falling out? My rheumy told me that the hair loss could be from the plaquenil or lupus before telling me to take vitamin b. I knew I was already on a lot of vitamins so I talked to my PCP who put me on them, and I was told not to take anymore than the two multivitamins because one is a prescription iron/ multivitamin combination with a lot of vitamins.

I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis and Lupus 2 weeks ago. I'm so tired of feeling like crap all the time. Why don't doctors know what the heck their doing? Not in spots, just an overall thinning after each shampoo. :( I have been loosing my hair since March 2011 also it has become brittle and turned a different color. So glad that you are asking about hair loss with Plaquenil. and in the last 6 weeks, I have lost a bunch of hair.
